I enjoy a good bargain. When I saw a brand new dog toy at a local thrift store, I had to get it! My purchase: JW Ruffians Cat! This toy was released back in 2005! It is not longer sold in major chain stores, but you can find it, and lots of different Ruffians, on Amazon. They range in price from $3 to $50 (because it's Amazon and you can do that kind of thing). There are also a few smaller online retailers that have JW Ruffians listed in the $8 range. I paid $1 for mine. How could I not buy it?
The toy is made of natural rubber that is certified non-toxic. What does that mean? According to the tag: "JW Pet toys have been tested by an independent facility for Lead, Antimony, Barium, Cadmium, Chromium, Selenium, and determined to be safe." Well, that's good to know! The toy is manufactured in China.
The toy is very well made. The rubber is thick, yet pliable. The squeaker is firmly sealed in the toy. I want to say that it's glued in, but it looks like the squeaker was added when the rubber was still in a malleable state. It seems fused to the rubber, which is great. I hate when squeakers break or fall out.
Calliope was extremely interested in the toy...at first. It's been a few days since I gave it to her and, well, it's just been sitting on the floor. She hasn't played with it at all. I think it's a toy that she'll "discover" one day when she's bored or something we can use in a game of fetch.
I would recommend this product for any dog that loves squeakers and is a light to medium chewer.
