About Me
I have been a pet owner nearly my entire life. In fact, there have only been six years of my life that I haven't shared with a pet! Calliope, however, is my first dog.
I enjoy buying new toys for Calliope. Before I make a purchase, I like to read as many reviews as I can online. Sometimes there aren't any reviews! This blog is my contribution to pet parents of the internet. I hope to provide reviews for any and all products that I have tried.
About My Dog
My dog, Calliope, is a Lhasa Apso. I found her at the Humane League of Lancaster County June 2012. She was found as a stray and needed some TLC. At the time, no one knew she was a Lhasa! She was believed to be about a year old and I think that was accurate.
Many people ask me how I came up with the name Calliope. Calliope is the Greek muse of epic poetry and means "beautiful-voiced." Calliope is also a type of steam organ that was commonly used in circuses and carousels. Calliope was also a children's show in the 80's and that is how I picked the name.
When I was younger I used to pick out names that I would use for pets. Calliope was one of those names. I believe that I thought the dog's name in the show was Calliope, but it's actually Liza. Calliope sounds much better, don't you think?
